Fireworks T-shirts and Plain Ole Fun

July 2, 2010

So everybody is coming to the lake to celebrate the 4th of July. Almost everybody anyway. We’re missing two son-in-laws who can’t make it, but we should still be bustin’ at the seams and I couldn’t be happier about it. Every bed will be filled, with air beds and sofas taking some of the load too. Good stuff and incentive to bump up finishing off a couple more bedrooms in the shop ASAP.

Here’s our menu (in case you need some ideas, not that anything is exotic): burgers, dogs, brats (all cooked by the men, which I happen to think is brilliant on my part), baked beans, pasta salad, corn on the cob, watermelon and canteloupe, chips, deviled eggs, peach ice cream, peach cobbler and one lower calorie dessert still to be determined.

Here’s our activity list: sidewalk chalk, bubbles, badmitten, horseshoes, sparklers and snaps for the little kids, and we’ll end the evening on blankets and in lawn chairs by the seawall watching all the fireworks the neighbors shelled out money for.

And we’re using this cute idea: fireworks t-shirts for everybody 10 and under. Including a onesie for the youngest, Baby Jae as we call her. My daughter, Leslie pointed me to the idea and she’s all about good ideas for kids, so if you’re needing any others to fill the summer days you can check out her site here. For the 4th she’s got several that are really cute, including another idea for a t-shirt and also ice cream in a bag.

Happy 4th Everybody, and especially to my Mom. Wish you could be here with us. xooxxo
