4th of July photos galore!

July 5, 2010

They came – we played and ate and slept (a little) and played and ate some more. And we think that’s about all you need for a really fabulous family holiday. It was the first time we’ve had so many here all at once, and every bed was full plus some.

Landon met Miss Kitty for the first time and immediately fell in love. By the end of the visit she’d decided to tolerate him.

Dan and Janae brought Baby Jae and she was a champ all weekend – just went with the flow, as long as she was dry and full.

A rare photo – all five grandkids in one place. We don’t get real picky with everybody looking the same direction at the same time. They’re sporting their fireworks T-shirts.

Dan’s little john boat was a big hit – both girls took their kids out for rides. Sarah proved you can drive a boat in a skirt!

Leslie and Landon out for a ride.
Don tried out our new kayak – what fun, but you better plan on a wet seat.

Fireworks T-shirts were a fun, cheap activity for the kids.

Addie giving Papa a taste of her ‘ice cream in a bag’.

Sarah and Dan wearing winter gloves to shake the bags of ice cream in the making.

Checking to see which cousin is the tallest. Landon won, even though he’s the youngest of the three.

A bathing beauty in the kitchen sink.

Baseball – the perfect yard game for little ones. Miss Addie was as good as her boy cousins!

Dan tried out the kayak too, with a fishing pole onboard.

Don spotted this snake wound around the lower board on the boat dock – not sure what kind it was but we steered clear of it and let it leave when it was ready.

The golf cart was fun for a short stroll around the neighborhood and Landon was pretty good at driving it.

The sunporch looks better with a ninja turtle playing on it. Leslie was thankful wireless works out there – a nice place to work when you’re a traveling cyber-teacher.

Snuggles were plentiful – they’re not going to be little for long so we want to squeeze as much out of these years as we can.

All around – a great 4th for our family. It would have been perfect if we’d had Chris and Jeremy with us. Maybe next year. Hope yours was just as great.

Thanks for sharing Bev! It looks like the lake house has become a wonderful home for family gatherings! Everyone looks like they enjoyed the week-end – even that snake!! (I do not know why but snakes are my greatest phobia!!) I bet Landon was thrilled to be with you & Don again! Love Leslie’s T-Shirt idea – I am going to use that for winter sweatshirts! We watched fireworks in the rain last night at my Mom’s (she is right next to Pinehurst Country Club) & got drenched. We had lots of hail & rain at our house so Highlands Ranch fireworks were delayed until tonight & the weather was beautiful. We got to enjoy both displays this year! Only in Colorado can the weather change so drastically from 1 day to another!
You are absolutely right about hugs! They are only young for such a short time! Beautiful family you have!

Ahhhh … my 4th was absolutely NOT as good as yours. Ours was quiet and boring and restflul. I would much prefer to be at your party.

I am so excited at how much fun y’all had. I had fun seeing the pictures. That porch DOES look better with a ninja turtle playing on it. Who knew that was the one piece of decor that was missing 🙂

Thank you for sharing these photos. It is amazing to me how much I feel like I know all of you, and STILL wish I lived next door 😉

Becky, that comment made me giggle. I guess that’s true – we usually do know our neighbors and wish one of us lived somewhere else. The people next door came over, when they saw the gaggle of grandkids we had, and gave us special firecrackers that light up when you throw them in the water – kids oohed and aahed over that. But I’d still pick you as my neighbor over anyone we’ve met so far (there’s a vacant lot next to us, just saying….)

Oh, it sounds like it was all just perfect!! I loved all the pictures, but the one of all the grandkids on the blanket and the “bathing beauty” were my absolute favorites! I know you have a new treasure trove full of memories as a result of that weekend!!

    Love and blessings, Karen

Looks like you squeezed absolutely every drop of fun out of your time together! I can’t imagine how thrilled you are with your lakehouse, and all the fun family times you are already enjoying.
I remember my cousin and I always measuring to see who was taller (it was NEVER me!) … what fun memories the cousins will have:-)
