Making For a Beautiful Life

July 24, 2010

This past week –

I got this photo of our seven month old granddaughter, her first trip to the ocean. Are those fabulous thighs or what?!

we found a new family doctor. He’s not the one we had for 14 years but he’ll likely grow on us.

took first aid and CPR classes together. It feels good to feel more prepared for an emergency out here in the sticks.

I spent several hours playing the piano – everything from Jingle Bells to Swing Low Sweet Chariot – Don was nice enough to say he enjoyed the variety!

I took an impromptu trip into Dallas for two days and nights with Sarah and her family.

I learned to play Risk with Caiden, who may have said, “Grams, you’re goin’ down!’

I may have yelled at fellow drivers on I-35 when I missed my exit to I-45 and nobody would take pity on me and let me in.

I sent up special prayers for someone going through fertility treatments.

I started knitting a special gift for a soon-to-be mommy.

We got new batteries for the golf cart and now you can eat our dust as we ride all over the neighborhood!

Bought canned goods for the Care Center at our new church.

Decided I love the way that sounds – ‘our new church’.

Hit my toe so hard on the garage floor it turned black and purple and red. Maybe I don’t even need polish!

Watched dragonflies dance across the pond coming into our neighborhood, and marveled at how many varieties there are. How gracious of God to go to so much trouble as to give us variety, even in dragonflies.

Frustration, joy, peace, wonder, encouragement, pain, laughter, a few tiny tears. Rolled all together it makes for a beautiful life.

It certainly does make for a wonderful life, Bev!

Gotta love those baby thighs. How come it’s so cute on them and on me? Not so much. LOL.

Ahhhh … it does feel good … that rhythm of days and nights and weeks of good and then a little bad to make the good look great.

That picture of Jae is adorable.

I too rediscovered my piano this weekend, after our church pianist informed me that I may have to sub next weekend! Eep! There’s nothing quite like homemade music.

Good luck on the knitting project….pictures coming soon, perhaps?

Val, alas I’ve ripped out my sweater eight times and am about to start over again. I’m having trouble with a particular cable technique – do ten rows then hit row 11 and it gets me every single time. But knitting a sweater is on my bucket list so I’m determined to persevere. I have the rest of my life to get it done, and it’s looking like it may take that long.

Those are impressive thighs, indeed. But my favorite is the tutu-skirt. Addie would love that,

Indeed Miss Addie would – especially since it’s pink – her favorite color in the whole universe!
