Company’s coming!

October 30, 2010

For the first time in longer than we can remember, company’s coming to the lake today! Not friends we’ve known for years, not family, but new friends. The sweet lady who invited me to Newcomers a couple of months ago, Peggy, and her husband, Richard, are coming out today. So there’s some tidying to be done, some cooking to be done, and we’re excited to see them pull up. We DID have to draw them a map, and won’t be surprised if we get a call at some point. Those country signs are not always easy to see. At least there aren’t any ‘turn right where the old railroad bed used to be’!

The menu is an old stand-by: start with a sharing a bottle of white merlot and guacamole with chips, then chili burros with all the toppings, (I’ll post the recipe next week). Then we’ll finish up with pumpkin roll and Blue Bell vanilla ice cream. Right now I’ve got cobwebs calling my name… Time to turn on some good ‘clean the house’ music, and get busy!

‘Company coming’ – love the sound of that!

I think we need to have company once a month or so, just to keep our homes in order and maybe try a new recipe or two. Hope you have a great time!!

Leah, we made our stand-by ‘first time company comes’ recipe and I was thinking tonight, what will I fix the second time they come? Probably Pioneer Woman’s lasagna! Who doesn’t love that! And yes, the house is nice and clean, so I’m planning to spend some time playing in my sewing room šŸ™‚

There’s nothing like having company to prompt me to really spruce up the place. Your evening sounds fun, and I look forward to your sharing your dinner’s recipes.

I’ve not heard of white merlot; will have to give that a try sometime. šŸ™‚

Renna, it’s nice! Actually heard of it on an audio tape, found it at either Brookshires or Walmart.

Our town only became ‘wet’ about a year or so ago. I still marvel at seeing the bottles of wine in the grocery store. ;-ƞ
