Book giveaway – Radical

December 4, 2010

Update: One more day to leave a comment. I’ll draw tomorrow afternoon for a winner!

I just finished reading Radical, by David Platt. Flew through it in about a week, and it looks like my ink pen blew up on the pages, so I’ll be going back through it again, slower this time. I just couldn’t put it down. Actually, I couldn’t wait for a copy to come into the bookstore, so when I saw it at Walmart I grabbed it.

Reading it made for rich conversations with my husband as we drove down the highways or walked along the roads of our neighborhood. How do we live, how should we live? How do we use our time, how should we use our time? How do we share our resources, how should we share our resources? What about missions? What about mission trips? Out of this country, to places that are a little bit scary? How many times a week do we drive in to invest in this new church family we just joined? Where should we serve? How does all this fit with the life we’re living now, and should it? Are Christians really called to ‘fit’? What about that being in the world but not of it?

It’s life-shaping. It’s life-changing. It’s convicting. It’s thought-provoking. There’s a challenge at the end to commit to doing five things over the next year, some easy, some not-so-much. I won’t tell you more so I don’t spoil it for you, but it’s a little book that packs a powerful punch.

They just phoned and another (clean, unmarked) copy is waiting for me at the local bookstore. I’ll pick it up today. Would anyone out there like to read it, give it to someone for Christmas? Leave me a comment, with a way to contact you, and I’ll draw a name Sunday, December 5. It’s just too good not to share.

Karen, it will be available, and likely in stock at any major bookstore, including the Family Christian store. I have a little shop here in our town, they ordered it for me and it took about 5 days to come in.xoxo

I just put Radical on my Kindle for just over five bucks on Sunday. I, too, am loving it and can’t put it down. Very convicting. “The Hole in Our Gospel” was the same way for me–have you read that one? It has rocked my world to the max!! Love and blessings, Karen

I would love to read this book and share it with friends. My husband died in March and since then I have felt aimless – I have loving children and grandchildren, wonderful friends, and no looming problems – but something is lacking to fill a void in my heart and life. Perhaps this book will help me find my sense of direction for the future.

Sandy H, Im so touched you took time for a comment. I will throw your name in the hat, but also, this first Christmas without your husband I will commit to be praying for you. if you don’t win, go buy the book. do the challenge of the five things; Im confident it will fill your heart in ways you can’t imagine. hugs, Bev
