Fully present in the moment

December 26, 2010

This time of year I start leaning toward the next one. Everything in me starts making lists – lists of resolutions and menus and cleaning schedules, books to read, muscles to tone and the odd pounds to lose.

But all that can wait til next year, a whole five days away. At this moment we’re nestled in with our kids in Pennsylvania, finishing our time of celebrating Christmas. There’s a light dusting of snow on the ground, a fire burning in the fireplace, leftover fudge and peppermint ice cream, movies to watch, important stuff. Precious stuff.

Before we know it we’ll have too many miles between us, missing our Pennsylvania family again, wishing we could reach through that computer screen and love on them. List-making can wait.
