‘Settling in Day’

October 10, 2010

We were driving back from the airport, my two grandsons and me, after dropping off their mama and little sister. They are on their way to spend some time with family in PA (lucky them, it’s beautiful there this time of year)’ so I’m hanging out with the boys 😉

To scoot the cloudy skies out of 6 yr old Grayson’s mind, we started chatting about what was in store for the week. Would they like to go to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch, pick pumpkins, bake cookies? Would I like to learn to play Super Mario on the Wii? Should we find some fun craft project to show on Aunt Nessie’s website? Should we play with Gray’s 1000+ new Lego pieces? Read books, play piano?

Grayson reminded me he’s big now (6) and DOES NOT take naps anymore. Smiles began to creep across his little face as we made plans for the next few days without mama. (He actually thought it was good riddance to have his little sister out of his hair since ‘she messes my stuff up.’)

Caiden summed it all up, ‘This is why I like ‘settling in day’. make plans for starting tomorrow, but for now go home and be lazy.’

Me too, Caiden!

“Settling in days” sound wonderful to me! What a great description:-)

Enjoy the getting settled, as well as all the “getting busy days” that are sure to follow! I’ll bet caiden will be impressed with all the chicken care knowledge you acquired on your last trip there, too.

Don’t you just love the things that can pop out of children’s mouths!

Your kids are fortunate to have you so involved and able to help out when needed!
